Event Monitor
An event recorder is a device that records a patient's heart rate and rhythm. You will keep the device for approximately 30 days. Depending on your symptoms, the monitor may be worn continuously or may be carried with you and used to record your heart rate and rhythm only when you are having symptoms. You will be instructed on how to transmit any recordings via telephone to a receiving unit for professional evaluation. If your symptoms are of a serious nature, do not hesitate to go to the emergency room or otherwise seek medical attention.
It will take approximately 30 minutes to hook up the recorder and give you instructions. You will be notified at that time when to return the recorder (approximately 30 days later). Your physician will be notified of the results.
